Weblinks
Listed below are some resources and software that I use or have used for web site design. You'll notice that many of these are obscure or open source. I figure that the "big names" already have enough advertisement and they're not paying me to do it.

1 Aptana
A free, open-source program for developing web sites, with a focus on Javascript. Also features support for HTML and CSS, as well as FTP and SFTP built in. (Cross-platform)
2 The Gimp
Open-source image manipulation program that does provide many of the features of Adobe Photoshop. However, the learning curve can be steep. And the interface is significantly different from Photoshop, which causes its own problems.
3 Inkscape
An open-source vector graphic program, akin to Adobe Illustrator. While it does not offer as full a feature set as Illustrator, it does enable the casual user to build vector graphics. (Cross-platform)
4 Joomla!
A powerful and extensible, server-based content management system for hosting a web site, either individually or in collaboration with others. Joomla! utilizes PHP and MySQL to manage content, allowing quick appearance changes using different themes.
5 Kompozer
Kompozer is a complete web authoring system, based on the Mozilla Composer code base. Kompozer is opensource, and provides for several different methods of editing HTML. (Cross-platform)
6 TopStyle
Topstyle is primarily a CSS editor, but also a useful HTML editor. I own licenses for succeeding versions of the Topstyle predecessor, Homesite. Topstyle Lite is even included with Homesite as a CSS editor. (Windows)
