James Gwinn (1798-1887) | Sarah (Newsom) Gwinn (1804-1881) | James Gwinn acquired the 323-acre Riverview Farm from his father, Robert (48 acres in 1849 and 275 in 1858). He added 103 acres to the farm during his life (30 acres in 1839, 50 acres in 1841, and 23 acres in 1849). In lieu of a will, James conveyed, by deed, 143 acres of the Riverview farm to William in 1876, 120 acres to Oliver in 1876, and 140 acres including the dwelling house to Caroline (Gwinn) Huffman and Thomas Mc. Huffman, her husband; to Addison R. Gwinn and Elisabeth, his wife; and to Louisa (Gwinn) Wylie and Andrew Wylie, her husband. The 23 acres conveyed to James in 1849 fell through the proverbial crack.
